my crazy jar collection

I have recently become quite the clear glass jar hoarder. I’ll admit it! I always rinse them out and keep them in a cabinet and if I don’t put them away quick, Evan will very quietly throw them out. (He hates this habit of mine!) I just know there will be a good reason for them someday. I have actually found some good uses for them already around our apartment already! They are great storage containers!

my tea bags and sugar packets

all my spare pocket change

most of my special corks

my sewing supplies!

I brought a few bottles home from work the other day. They are beautiful bottles and I am currently searching for a really great way to use them! I’ll think of something….

I went searching online to find some fun ideas for ways to use my glass jar collection!

etched glass storage jars from martha...check out the link to see the 'how to'

another reusing storage idea...bath salts and other bathroom items

cupcakes in a jar! i love this gift idea!

love these cute little labels for spices!

more storage ideas...i just love the blackboard paint to use for labels!

how cute is this gift idea -- and it's packaged perfectly!

I've got some other ideas up my sleeve also! I'll post again when I figure something out! Happy Thursday!!

cloud 9 fabrics

I love fabric shopping of any kind and ever since I’ve moved to Philadelphia I frequent Spool, the cutest little sewing store ever! They have some of the coolest fabrics and one line they carry is called Cloud 9 Fabrics. The company was started by two ladies who wanted to bring eco-sensible fabrics to the crafting market. They use only 100% certified organic cotton and low impact dyes for their printing. Take a minute to read more about them, it's really amazing!

I am in love with all of their collections! I have had the chance to see the fabrics and feel them in real life at Spool and they are the softest, sweetest fabrics in the shop!

I also think it's really cute that all of the collections are named in an earthy way...this one is called Beyond the Sea

this is called Nature Walk

They also have a really great blog full of tutorials and projects! Hope you enjoy!

reuse your mug!

I have spent the last 8 months working as a manager at the cutest little coffee shop in center city. i have a great job and I've learned a lot from the experience. one thing we really love at passero's coffee is a great re-usable coffee mug! we give 35 cents off any drink you put in a mug! (that's 25 more cents than starbucks) anyway... i see so many fabulous coffee mugs every day and i did a little searching of my own to share some of my favorites.

i just love, love, love aladdin mugs! this company is really doing big things when it comes to sustainable products. they have simple and functional mug designs that i just love! (my water bottle is an aladdin bottle)

these aladdin mugs are fully recycled and also recycable! (even the lids) they are dishwasher and microwave safe and super cute! they have so many different shapes and sizes, you are bound to find one that you love.

i love this smaller mug with the handle. i'd love to have the whole aladdin collection of mugs and water bottles!

even though i hate starbucks coffee - they do have some of the coolest mugs! i love this ceramic mug that is made to look like a starbucks paper cup.

isn't this so cool?!

starbucks also has a line of mugs that you can create what you'd like to have on them.
i love this black and white handle design!

i love this bright yellow mug!

i found these absolutely beautiful hand painted ceramic mugs on etsy. i just love every single one of them!!

look at all these flower options! so beautiful!

i love the sunflowers!

I think that these travel mugs make a really neat gift as well. Put some loose tea leaves or some coffee beans with it and I think that'd be a great and useful gift for someone! Plus, every time you use a mug instead of a paper cup you are saving a tree somewhere!

hope you are loving this 70 degree day as much as i am!! happy friday!!

things to be happy about!

well, it's been a long 12 days waiting for my beautiful iPhone...but yesterday, it was all mine! and just after 1 little day I am already in complete love with it!! i really don't know a fraction of what it can do but i'm so excited to learn! a customer at my shop on friday said "my iPhone changed my life" ha ha i can now see why!

i love this sew happy print! i'd love to hang it above my sewing table in my apartment!

new yarn from loop is always something to be happy about! i want this particular yarn in every color it comes in...it's pashmina yarn and it's so soft and the colors are just beautiful!! i love the colors mineral and flashdance...(the dark purplish and teal color there beside eachother)

this is the mineral color..

isn't this tea pot adorable? so simple and perfect!

this is worth taking a better look at....the picture is so tiny but it's a wine tote for byob's and one side says Philadelphia and the other side is full of important places and things in the city. i love it!

linen tape spools....one with little sheep and the other with strawberries! i can think of so many fun things to do with this!!

what are you happy about this weekend?!
happy sunday!

beautiful knitted things

I have always loved hand knitted things! I wanted to learn how to knit for awhile and my aunt finally opened up the amazing world of knitting to me this summer. So now, I love hand knitted things even more and I can appreciate all the time and the skill that goes into knitting gloves, scarves and everything else! knitting has become my almost first favorite hobby (just a smidge below sewing) and i love the vast possibilities that lay in my future knitting career!

this beeeaauuttiful shawl was knit by my fabulous friend Christine! she is amazing and has been the best resource for me through my knitting adventure. she is incredible with a knitting needle and i love seeing all of her work!

i currently have a table runner that is sewn by me but i think i want this hand knitted one instead! i love the simple pattern and the off-white color against the wood.

who doesn't love a great pair of knitted socks?! i'm not so good yet with the heel turn and the toe, but i will be some day and you better believe i'll have as many pairs of socks as i can make! these amazing orangeish/yellowish socks have such a beautiful pattern in them. someday i hope to have these in my sock drawer!

i am in love with almost everything that brooklyn tweed has on their website. this amazing shawl is just one of the projects that i hope to someday be able to make. look at all the details! ah - just beautiful!!

i love cables so much! my friend christine recently taught me how easy cables really are and i've been looking for projects with cables ever since! isn't this the cutest lampshade cover ever?

i just saw this really cute cabled cowl on loop's blog. i love the huge cables and the purple yarn is perfect! (loop is the cute little yarn shop 1 block from my apartment)

with all of this yarn talk, i'm ready to keep working on my current project - a lace shawl! happy knitting everyone!!

rainy days

oh what a beautiful day for knitting and sewing! it's raining cats and dogs here in philadelphia so i'm stuck inside and not too upset about it. i have plenty of knitting projects i am working on so with the rain I can sit inside on my couch and watch the chopped marathon, knitting and snuggling with edward (who is constantly chasing my yarn and needles).

(the rainy view from my apartment window)

another fun thing that comes with rainy days are fun rain boots! i recently was in the market for a nice pair of rain boots to walk around the city... i looked around and went with a fabulous pair of aubergine hunter rain boots!

aren't they perfect?! :-)

a few others that almost made the cut...

i love the laces up the whole front of these and i love green!

i also love stripes!

i always think rain boots should be yellow and i love that these are almost just like shoes instead of a high boot.

i love the dark color and the laces! if only i could've had all these boots!

my birthday flowers are in full bloom and are as beautiful as ever!

happy rainy sunday!

happy birthday! (to me)

this past tuesday was my 23rd birthday and it was an exceptionally nice day! my wonderful co-workers had my little coffee shop decorated with balloons and happy birthday signs! my boss gave me a wonderful bottle of tequila - yum!

i always love birthdays and this one was especially good because i was really glad to have my 22nd year over! it was a year full of change and adjustments....definitely lots of fun....but a lot of uncertainty and craziness! anyway - the beginning of my 23rd year has started off really well and i'm thinking this year has really great things to come!!

evan brought home these beeeautiful stargazer lilies! and they are opening now and my whole apartment smells amazing!! edward wanted to see what all the excitement was also!

and then my birthday dinner was at Amada - my most favorite restaurant in the whole city and most definitely one of the best restaurants in philadelphia!

I keep all the corks that evan and I drink and put a date and a word or 2 to remind me of the occasion. someday i will make something special with these corks!

the best part of the day/night was my iPhone!!
the actual phone will be here march 11th!

thanks to everyone for all of your birthday wishes and cards and hellos! it made my day perfect!!
