my weekend project!

slowly but surely i am making progress in making this home feel like a home. on friday i bought my most favorite fabric from my little sewing shop and got to work on curtains for our bathroom.

amazing, right?! oh i've bought so much of it!

so this is what we started with..
really old dirty ugly white shear curtains..

and how awful is that without a curtain?

before and after! what a difference!

i really love them. i've been walking in and out of the bathroom just to look at them! ha they really do brighten up the room.

Curtains are SUPER easy and anyone can make them! A general rule of thumb when making curtains is to take your width measurement and double it. And measure your length and add just a few inches to account for your hems. All I had to do for these was to cut my rectangles, hem both sides and hem the top and bottom! They are so easy and add so much to a room! I love them!

hopefully everyone survived the hurricane & had a nice weekend!

here in my sewing room, trying to get things done....

edward loves plopping himself right in the middle of everything i'm doing (whether its in this room or anywhere really!) his little ear is on my delete key in this picture and he is sound asleep. but i can't shoo him away, he's too darn cute and i just love him so much!

stripes!

oh how I love stripes. you can really tell when you look in my closet. i have striped shirts in every color and every size stripe! I don't know why either, aren't horizontal stripes supposed to make you look wider? hmm... well i love them in every area of my life! here are some of my favorite stripey things!

someday i'll be this bold and paint my walls with these awesome stripes!

i adore this yellow striped ceiling! i recently went into the cutest little sewing shop and their ceiling was just like this one and it was beautiful. and is that a chalk board painted wall back there?! ah - love it!

comfy striped dress from anthro!

how cute would these straws be in your next margarita?!

there's not much i love more than tiny versions of things! so of course i love this tiny striped cake bunting.

i'd like these in my back yard!

baby parker zoe ella!

I've spent the past year working as a manager at a little coffee shop in center city... during my time there I went to the bank every day and became good friends with one of the tellers there! she recently had the most beautiful little baby girl so of course I got to work on some cute gifts for the little munchkin.

Latifah asked me to come up with a design for her baby shower invitations also.

she just wanted something simple and pretty. Latifah has a really amazing story and I wanted to incorporate that somehow. [I know it's hard to see..] but at the top we made a little time line with all of the major events in Latifah's life that were related to her first baby girl. She's been a mother figure to many young girls and now she has a baby of her own! Her colors were pink and purple so I used many shades for the layers and added some sparkly puffy paint for fun!

...in production!

I came up with a fun bunting idea for the baby's room!
I never know a good way to take pictures of bunting so please excuse these pictures!

I used all pinks and purples and found a cute font online to use for the letters!

I really loved how it turned out! And I hope someday little baby Parker will love it too!

Last, I made Parker the sweetest little sweater!
I love this yarn and how it subtly changes color. I think it turned out really well and it was super easy! How cute are those little white flower buttons?!

I always like to make little tags to go on my hand knit presents!

here is the glowing momma at her shower!

one of Latifah's friends set up this beautiful and awesome candy bar! How awesome is all that pink and purple?!

i love this cake!

everything was pink and purple!! I love when you have a theme and go the whole way with it!

I'm so happy and honored that I got to be such a big part of this whole experience. Little baby Parker is now in this world and cute as can be!!

no inspiration.

Ugh.

I have been so busy and un-motivated lately. All the craziness of moving and trying to find a new job and so much new and adjusting has really taken its toll on me. I apologize for ignoring my blog for so long! I haven't really made anything new and I've been feeling stuck in a rut, despite having a new beautiful work space!

What helps inspire and motivate you when you are having a hard time?

I did just return from a fun girls, mom and aunt beach weekend which helped to lift my spirits a bit! I did start my first baby quilt and I am knitting the most beautiful cabled socks ever! I've also been riding my bike everywhere and it's been a lot more fun and a lot less scary than I thought it would be!

On another note! I got a really sweet message this morning from an old high school friend. She wrote to me saying she enjoyed following my blog and had found a really neat crochet project for me to check out. I can't even begin to say how nice it is to receive messages like that one. It's just an awesome feeling to know that she thought of me when she stumbled across such a cool project. Thanks, it's just what I needed!

i love this picture.
