ivy lane designs on etsy

Etsy is a website that I frequent often, like every day often.... It's packed full of crafty people selling their handmade or vintage goods. I just love it! I recently came across one of the cutest little shops yet! I like to search for local sellers and I fell in love with this one right away! She recycles almost everything used in her products.... here is a small sample of her super cool stuff!!

aren't these so cute?! who wouldv'e thought to make little notebooks out of kool-aid packets? ah - I just love it!

another notebook....there are notebooks out of just about anything you can think of! what a fun gift one of these would be. you could find one that is the favorite something-or-other of the person you are getting a gift for...

there are also tons of different little matchbox favors

one of my favorite childhood games....turned into a recycled notebook! ah, i can't get enough!

big cheez-it notebook! love it!

she also has a lot of different crayons...these are super cute fortune cookie crayons, in any color you could want!

my favorite girl scout cookie notebook

and lastly, my all time favorite food notebook! i think i'm going to have to order this one!

my recipe cards!

i have more recipes than i will ever cook and more than i know what to do with! they are in all different forms and shapes and sizes and it drives me crazy! (my ocd comes into play here!) i have been meaning to begin to the process of compiling and organizing my recipes with cute handmade cards so i can actually use them.

here are the recipe cards i came up....very simple and easy!

i love my kitchenaid mixer and found this perfect little drawing to use as a small picture on them. i also love typewriter fonts so i found one to use on my recipe cards also. i kept them super clean and simple!

i also printed them in a few different colors of card stock, I may even try to find more colors so i can color-code each category of recipes...see, a little crazy of me right?! :-)

I love how they turned out! Now I just need to get writing and then hopefully actually use them to cook dinner and other snacks!

happy earth day tomorrow!

quilt class update!

a few posts ago I told you about a quilting class that I was taking with my Mom at my favorite little sewing shop, Spool....I wanted to give a quick update on how it went!

here I am putting my blocks together with the help of Cherri herself!

I loved my Mom's yellow and grey combination!!

I did have to finish my quilt at home...I had to lay all my blocks out to get make sure the colors looked nice.
Edward loves to be in the middle of everything that I'm doing and here he is, right in the middle of all my quilt blocks.

he was wrapped up in my quilt on the floor also...

I took a few pictures of Cherri's other quilts. She brought a lot of her quilts to show us and they were all just so amazing!!

These pictures don't do the quilts any justice, they were truly amazing!
The solid colors are just gorgeous!

cherry house quilts

this weekend is a very exciting weekend for me, one I’ve been looking forward to for a while now!  I’m taking a sewing/quilting class at Spool (my favorite local sewing shop) with my Momma. Cherri House is the author of a book called “City Quilts” its an amazing book full of absolutely beautiful quilts. All of them use solid colors to create beautiful quilts. Cherri House is teaching our class on Saturday and she’s teaching us how to use solids in the best way. I’m SO excited!!

we were to choose 6 solid colors in one spectrum and then 6 solid colors in another complementing spectrum. I decided to choose greens and browns and I love how my blocks turned out!

and now i can't wait until my quilt blocks are put together and my first quilt is made!

We are making the Tempest Quilt..

don't you love the purple and grays?! (my mom chose to use yellows and grays! her blocks are amazing also!!)

If you love solids and love quilts, this book by Cherri House is definitely worth purchasing!

check it out here...(along with many of her other books and patterns..)

I can't wait to post my pictures of my finished quilt, hopefully coming soon!!
Happy Quilting!!

my table runner

This project was my first project that I made with my brand new sewing machine. I found the pattern idea from Stitch, a really super fabulous sewing magazine! All of the fabrics I chose to use are flowery and most of them are old and kind of vintage looking.

It currently sits on my coffee table in my apartment. It's usually covered with things but it looks so nice when it's cleaned off!

After piecing all the blocks together, I quilted the squares with just straight lines following the corners of the blocks. It really ads a lot of dimension and depth to the table runner.

It was definitely super easy and I love how it turned out! What do you think?

Happy Weekend and Go Phillies!!
