the tweed weasel

I knew as soon as my mom and I walked into this super cute place that I was going to love it! Well, I think I should've known just by the name...The Tweed Weasel. How great is that? My mom and I have driven by this place many times in lancaster on our way to one of my favorite fabric places and this weekend we finally saw an Open flag waving outside and knew we had to stop and check it out. What a great surprise it was!

I had to share as many pictures as I could find of these most adorable fabric vegetables!

turnips, carrots, figs, garlic, beets, white & sweet potatoes

cabbage, onions, green beans, carrots, mushrooms, radish, tomatoes & eggplant

yellow wax beans

radishes

gourds

watermelon

fresh corn, husks and all! she thought of everything

tomatoes

the best one missing is the head of lettuce! ah, it was so perfect! I can't wait to save up some money and order my own set of these darling vegetables. I can just imagine them in a neat old box in my kitchen...and they will never go out of season!

the barn was also full of beautiful old antique furniture and a ton more handmade goods from the owner.

we talked to the owner for a bit after we browsed and she was such a nice lady. what a great stop! definitely check out her website and see more of her amazing work!!

happy memorial day everyone!

my best friend's bag!

a very long time ago (almost a year) i promised my best friend katie her very own messenger bag for her birthday! well, it's finally finished! :) katie and i have been best best friends for a few years now but we've known eachother since the 6th grade. i remember when her aol screen name was barngoddess... ha katie, i know you love that memory! katie is always there when I need a good chat and she always supports my decisions...even if they aren't the best decisions...she knows everything about me like no one else does! and i love her and value our friendship very much!! okay so anyway... here is her bag!!

this was one of my most favorite bags! i love the white and small black polka dots with the lime green tiny pin stripes!

this inside is a black checkered pattern...i really used a lot of different patterns for this one.. ha

i ordered some really great hardware for the bags also and i was able to make the straps adjustable.

and this is the front stripe.. what do you think?

here she is showing it off....i think she loves it!

my weekend adventure

me and my momma

What a fun-filled, packed-full weekend I had this past weekend! Evan and I left early Friday morning to go home for the weekend so we both took off work and enjoyed a long weekend at home. He played golf (oh and bought a new car!) all weekend and I spent most of my time with my momma.

One of my new favorite things to do is to go to flea markets, yard sales and thrift shops and look through old stuff and find new treasures! Sunday, my mom and I went to a local flea market and found some great stuff!

i found a few really neat old sewing tools...two old tape measures and some wooden spools. i think i'll decorate my future sewing room with them!

i found a bag full of old vintage zippers and some lace details for just $2! what a steal...I love when I can find deals like this! i can't wait to use these awesome zippers on some of my bags!

i didn't buy these but i loved them! i don't think evan would've liked me bringing all of these home..

this was for sale...how neat is this old singer?!

now I'm looking forward to next weekend...a trip to my second favorite fabric store and another arts and crafts show in harrisburg!

pistachio green

This may be silly, but I felt I really needed to share! I was in the store paper source a few weeks ago and came across a neat book that was about colors and birthdays. I flipped to my birthday, March 1st, and this is the page I found! Pistachio Green!? What?! I was stunned and so excited. This is infact my newest favorite color and it's the color of my KitchenAid mixer!! I love that it is not just green, but Pistachio Green! I thought it was some sort of sign...

And then I read on about the details and characteristics of this day and it's pretty darn accurate of my personality. Words like creative and inspire and optimism are used....I would use all of these when I think of myself. I always love to read things like this and see if it really matches me, I mean who doesn't? This picture was taken with my iPhone so sorry about my hand shadow but like I said, I couldn't not document this finding!

I wonder what your color would be and if it would be as accurate as mine!
Happy Monday!

here is my beautiful mixer. the color doesn't show as well as I'd like but I promise it's pistachio green!

my momma's octopus bag

one day my mom embroiderd this super cute little octopus on a scrap of linen and then came to me with it and wanted a bag! i was so excited to make my mom a bag....my mom, who can make anything! it was very cool for me to give her something instead of the other way around..which is how it's been my whole life.

i think we both really loved the end product. my mom chose a really great fuschia color for the pockets and accent fabric and an awesome purple batik fabric that has circles like bubbles and water.

and of course the cute octopus was the center of attention!

love you momma!

art star craft bazaar!

I went to my first Philadelphia craft show this weekend and had a blast! Despite the rainy day, my mom, aunt and I still managed to have a great time. I bought lots of great goodies and would have gone back for me had it not started to down pour when we were heading out..

here are just a few of my favorite booths!

I bought both of these kitchen towels at her stand. She has her studio in Philadelphia and even sells her items at anthropologie! how cool!

another example of her awesome stuff!

love this cute little purse I bought.. Heather is the lady behind barely measured and she works at Spool. she had a really cute stand and definitely check out her blog, it's great!

probably my favorite purchase...how cute are these tiny little lime stud earings?! i always love little things and these sisters have the cutest line of tiny food jewelry!! their etsy shop makes their stuff look cute but let me tell you, in person their stuff is ten times cuter!

i didn't buy these but I think I will any moment...how cute are these little peanut butter and jelly sandwich stud earrings?! ah just love them!

i loved the embroidered canvas picture frames with neat bikes on them!

this is a booth I wanted to go back to...she collected vintage glassware and then made soy candles in many different natural scents..I loved them and may have to order some from her shop!

this booth was full of beautiful handmade goodies, many of them had linen in them and i just love anything made with linen! these coasters are so fabulous!!

happy birthday to my dad today!!
